Over Commiting to God in Worship

We have all sung worship songs that claim outrageous acts of what we will do for God.  (Does anyone remember "Undignified" or "Dance in the River"???)  Here is a great article from "Stuff Christians Like" that calls us out on the outrageous claims, and asks for more honesty in worship.
Enjoy!!

  1. Now I want to go read the lyrics of the songs we are singing this week to see if they have any outrageous claims, but I probalby should work instead. I will probably be paying a lot closer attention to the lyrics for a while at least. I know most of the time especially with familar songs I just sing the lyrics without even thinking about them.

I think sometimes you might really mean the lyrics at the time you are singing them. For example the song Undignified that you mentioned. I think if you are singing that song at say a David Crowder concert with a lot of other people dancing and singing and being undignified the song might be true in that moment, but once you leave might find it a lot harder to do things that are undignified for God.

Also thanks for the website. I am pretty sure I saw it mentioned somewhere before like Relivent, but hadn't ever checked it out.
